Slamming The Fish On The Jenny Ann

Kewaunee is a scenic port with a variety of activities to enjoy. There are nearby campgrounds, bike trails, state parks and beaches. Kewaunee also offers many delicious diners, festivals, farmers’ markets, and the historical tugboat Ludington to enjoy. These are just some of the reasons Jenny Ann Sportfishing LLC chose to make Kewaunee our homeport. The primary reason is the terrific fishing found just minutes from the dock.

Our fishing season starts off in mid-April chasing shallow water Brown Trout. We typically fish within one mile of the shore. This is where trophy Brown Trout can be found in the warmer waters chasing schools of bait. Frequently, lake trout are mixed in our catch at this time of year along with the occasional salmon.

Late May is when the deep-water fishing takes off. This is when we have lots of action with the acrobatic, high jumping Steelhead being our primary target. These beautiful fish make up most of our catch with Lake Trout, King Salmon and the occasional Coho Salmon filling in the rest of the excitement.

Summer patterns stabilize in June with a mixed bag being caught into August. This is your best time for consistent action. You will have a mixed catch consisting of Steelhead, Lake Trout, Coho Salmon, King Salmon and the occasional Brown Trout at this time of the year. Late August the King Salmon start their fall migration into the rivers to spawn. Most of our action at this time is King Salmon and they are found close to the harbor.

Later in September, we concentrate our last few weeks on immature salmon found offshore with Steelhead filling up the rest of our catch. This is a relaxing way to finish out the season when there are plenty of fish to be caught and fewer fishermen out. From April to October Kewaunee has great fishing to be found close by. We hope to welcome you aboard the “Jenny Ann” for an unforgettable trip this year.
